- 13Pour the apple pie filling into a baking tray.
- 14In a bowl, combine flour, butter, and salt to create a crumbly dough.
- 15Knead the dough on a floured surface.
- 16Roll out the pie dough and transfer it to a pie dish.
- 17Add the apple pie filling into the pie crust.
- 18Cut the remaining pie dough into strips.
- 19Weave the dough strips over the pie to create a lattice top.
- 20Separate egg yolks into a bowl.
- 21Whisk egg yolks and sugar until creamy.
- 22Heat milk in a saucepan with vanilla beans.
- 23Temper the egg mixture with hot milk and whisk together.
- 24Return the mixture to the saucepan and stir until thickened.
- 25Brush the lattice top with an egg wash (egg yolk and milk mixture).
- 26Bake the pie in the oven at 180°C.
