Korean Popcorn Chicken

Directions

  1. 1In a bowl, combine the chicken pieces with soy sauce, egg, salt, pepper, and garlic powder, and mix well.
  2. 2Add the potato starch to the bowl and mix until coated.
  3. 3Transfer the chicken to an air fryer and cook at 400 degrees, shaking halfway through.
  4. 4In a separate bowl, whisk together gochujang, soy sauce, rice vinegar, ketchup, honey, brown sugar, sesame oil, and grated garlic.
  5. 5Pour the sauce into a skillet and let simmer for a few minutes.
  6. 6Add butter to the sauce and whisk until glossy.
  7. 7Add the cooked chicken to the sauce and toss to coat.

  • 1.5 lbs boneless chicken, cut into 1 in pieces
  • 4 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 whole egg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup potato starch
  • 1/4 cup gochujang
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 5 cloves garlic, grated
  • 1 tbsp butter

Tips

  • You can use corn starch instead of potato starch, but potato starch gets crispier.
