Directions
- 1Sift cornstarch and salt into a pot.
- 2Add egg yolk to the pot.
- 3Whisk ingredients together in the pot.
- 4Pour milk into the pot.
- 5Whisk all ingredients together in the pot.
- 6Place the pot on low heat.
- 7Constantly stir the mixture on low heat.
- 8Once heated, start whisking continuously.
- 9Whisk until the mixture is smooth and thick.
- 10Check if the custard sticks to the back of a spoon to ensure it's thick enough.
- 11Remove the custard from heat.
- 12Transfer the custard to a glass bowl.
- 13Add sweetened condensed milk to the custard.
- 14Add vanilla to the custard.
- 15Mix until smooth.
- 16Add red fruit or beet juice for color.
- 17Stir until the color is combined.
- 18Chill the custard for 20 minutes.
- 19Serve the tubby custard.
