Directions
- 1Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
- 2Poke holes in the pie crust with a fork to prevent it from blowing up.
- 3Add four heaping tablespoons of cocoa and four heaping tablespoons of flour to a boiler.
- 4Add three cups of regular sugar to the boiler.
- 5Stir all the dry ingredients together with a wooden spoon, getting out most of the lumps.
- 6Add four cups of whole milk to the dry ingredients.
- 7Add six egg yolks to the mixture.
- 8Turn the stove on to a setting of 8 or 9 (more high than medium).
- 9Stir the mixture constantly until it is thick.
- 10Once thick, turn off the heat.
- 11Add two tablespoons of butter to the mixture.
- 12Add two teaspoons of vanilla extract to the mixture.
- 13Pull the pie crusts out of the oven.
- 14Let the pie crusts sit for a couple of minutes until they are not sizzling anymore.
- 15Pour the pudding mixture into the deep dish pie crusts.
- 16Let the pies come to room temperature.
- 17Refrigerate the pies overnight.
- 18Top with Cool Whip before serving.
