Directions

1Preheat oven to 350°F and line an 8x8 inch pan with parchment paper.
2For the cookie layer, combine melted butter, brown and granulated sugar, egg, and vanilla. Whisk until smooth and fluffy.
3Add dry ingredients (flour, baking soda, salt) and chocolate chips to the cookie batter. Mix until just combined.
4For the brownie layer, make the browned butter mixture: Melt butter in a saucepan over medium-low heat until foamy and golden brown.
5Add cocoa powder, oil, vanilla, and chopped chocolate to the browned butter mixture. Mix until smooth.
6In a separate bowl, whisk eggs and brown sugar until dissolved; then add powdered sugar and mix until combined.
7Add the browned butter mixture to the egg mixture and mix until smooth.
8Add flour and chocolate chips to the brownie batter, mixing until well combined.
9Layer the cookie and brownie batters in the prepared pan.
10Bake for 50-55 minutes, or until edges are golden and the center is slightly fudgy.
11Let cool completely before cutting and serving.
