Directions
- 1Add milk, vegetable oil, and sifted cake flour into a large bowl and whisk until smooth.
- 2Separate 8 egg yolks and 8 egg whites.
- 3Add the 8 egg yolks and 1 tsp of vanilla extract to the flour mixture and whisk until well combined.
- 4In a stand mixer bowl, add 8 egg whites, 100g of sugar, and 7g of lemon juice.
- 5Whisk the egg white mixture until stiff peaks form.
- 6Gently fold the egg white mixture into the egg yolk batter until fully incorporated.
- 7Pour the batter into a baking pan lined with baking paper.
- 8Bake at 300°F (150°C) for 20 minutes.
- 9In a large bowl, combine 1 block of cream cheese, a splash of heavy cream, and 60g of casting sugar.
- 10Whisk the cream cheese mixture until smooth and creamy.
- 11Spread the cream cheese frosting evenly over the cooled cake using an offset spatula.
- 12Cut the cake into small square pieces.
- 13Pipe additional frosting on the sides of each cake square.
- 14Carefully remove the skin from strawberries using a knife.
- 15Cut the strawberry skin into small square 'pixels'.
- 16Place the strawberry skin pixels on top of each frosted cake square to create the Minecraft design.
