Coffee in Chili

Directions

  1. 1Heat a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, until it is no longer pink and develops a deep brown crust.
  2. 2Add the finely diced yellow onion, minced garlic cloves, and finely chopped jalapeño pepper. Cook until the onion softens and becomes translucent.
  3. 3Stir in the tomato paste, chili powder, ground cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Cook, stirring constantly.
  4. 4Add the diced tomatoes with their juices to the pot and stir to combine.
  5. 5Pour in the brewed coffee and beef broth, stirring to deglaze the pot. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
  6. 6Add the black beans and kidney beans. Stir, then reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer.
  7. 7Taste the chili and adjust seasoning if needed before serving.
