Directions
- 1Add yeast to a bag.
- 2Pour warm water into the bag.
- 3Crack an egg into the bag.
- 4Zest an orange into the bag.
- 5Add sugar to the bag.
- 6Add salt to the bag.
- 7Add vanilla to the bag.
- 8Add softened butter to the bag.
- 9Seal the bag.
- 10Mix the ingredients in the bag by squeezing and squishing.
- 11Open the bag and add flour.
- 12Seal the bag.
- 13Mix the dough in the bag until well combined and a ball forms.
- 14Place the sealed bag with dough into a bowl of warm water.
- 15Let the dough rise for 1 hour.
- 16Remove the dough from the bag onto a floured surface.
- 17Roll out the dough into a large rectangle.
- 18Spread Nutella evenly over the rolled dough.
- 19Sprinkle chocolate chips over the Nutella.
- 20Roll the dough tightly into a log.
- 21Cut the log in half lengthwise.
- 22Cross the two halves over each other.
- 23Braid the two halves together.
- 24Place the braided dough into a loaf pan.
- 25Cover the loaf pan with a towel and let it rise for 1 hour.
- 26Bake at 350F/175C for 40 minutes.
- 27While baking, combine sugar and water in a saucepan.
- 28Stir the sugar and water until dissolved.
- 29Bring the sugar syrup to a boil.
- 30Brush the baked babka with the sugar syrup.
- 31Serve and enjoy!
